Features and benefits

IBM WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks provides a SWIFT-qualified single window interface to SWIFTNet FIN, InterAct, and FileAct services, and is able to process high volumes of financial messages reliably. It offers a highly flexible integration platform for financial messaging based on industry-proven IBM middleware products such as DB2 Universal Database, WebSphere MQ, and WebSphere Message Broker. Its robust, reliable, resilient, and security-rich environment is designed to reduce complexity, risk, and operational costs by automating and centralizing message processing, operating, monitoring, and administration tasks.

WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks provides the following key capabilities.

SWIFT connection and infrastructure services for improved operations
Provides common infrastructure services such as message warehousing, recording of audit data, security, event handling and logging, reference data, common configuration, and SWIFTNet administration, leading to simplified operations, improved productivity, and consolidation of resources.

Flexible, cost-efficient messaging
Establishes a flexible and cost-efficient integration foundation for SWIFT messaging, enhancing customer service and improving customer retention.

Simple integration with business applications
Allows for simple integration with backend applications by offering extendible message routing.

An extendable solution
Provides an extendable and expandable solution which is based on WebSphere Message Broker, WebSphere MQ and DB2 software. It enables banks to implement new services based on SWIFTNet while maintaining their existing and trusted software. Recently added features include:

  • Message management capabilities for SWIFTNet FIN and MX messages, including message entry and repair, and printing

  • Consolidated SWIFT-qualified messaging service for SWIFTNet InterAct and FileAct

WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks is part of the Payments and Securities domain of the IBM Banking Industry Framework. The framework provides the software foundation for end-to-end banking solutions and speeds solution deployment with foundational and domain-specific software extensions, accelerators and best practice software implementation patterns.

Each system that needs access to the Message Entry and Repair Facility requires Microsoft® Internet Explorer or Mozilla Filefox

- 30 to 100 MB of disk space for traces (depending on trace level)

Support for SWIFTNet FIN feature requires a LAN-based SWIFT HSM box. (USB HSM devices are not supported.)
