By deploying and running WebSphere Process Server Hypervisor Edition in virtualized environments, you can achieve the following:
Reduce costs for hardware, power, cooling and real estate by utilizing hardware more efficiently
Use a single machine to be carved into multiple smaller "virtual machines," each of which may run an instance of WebSphere Process Server Hypervisor Edition
When deployed, a Hypervisor Edition can take the form of a single application server or a member of a cluster of application servers
Start a WebSphere Process Server instance running stand-alone, by simply running WebSphere Process Server Hypervisor Edition on a supported hypervisor, select the desired type of instance for that virtual machine from a list of choices, and answer a few questions about node names and IP addresses. When used with IBM Workload Deployer, this process is tooled and automated for standardization and repeatability.
IBM Workload Deployer is a cloud computing appliance that manages WebSphere products in a cloud environment. It dispenses patterns of virtual images into a pool of virtualized resources running a supported hypervisor.
Optimization for deployment speed and agility enables an entirely new usage paradigm for WebSphere Process Server built around rapid setup and teardown.
Test cases can be based upon a standardized deployment that is destroyed and reinstalled after each execution.
WebSphere Process Server Hypervisor Edition for AIX is only supported for use with IBM Workload Deployer.
WebSphere Process Server Hypervisor Edition for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is available for loading on the IBM Workload Deployer appliance and can be installed for stand-alone operation.
WebSphere Process Server Hypervisor Edition supports WebSphere Process Server V7.0 and V6.2 with optional feature packs.
WebSphere Process Server Hypervisor Edition for AIX includes the AIX V6.1.3 operating system. WebSphere Process Server Hypervisor Edition for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server includes Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 as the operating system.
