IBM ILOG JViews Graph Layout for Eclipse provides the services needed to easily add graph layout to Eclipse-based diagram displays. The following table lists the main features available with this product.

Advanced algorithms

The following families of algorithms are available:

  • Tree and radial tree layouts

  • Hierarchical layouts

  • Uniform-length edges layout

  • Bus layout

  • Topological mesh layout

  • Circular layout

  • Grid layout

  • Label layout

  • Link routing (several algorithms and variants)

  • Improved display of link crossings

Native integration with the Eclipse platform and key Eclipse frameworks

The following services are available to support different application models and different integration strategies:

  • Native integration with Graphical Editing Framework (GEF)

  • Native integration with Graphical Modeling Framework (GMF)

  • Nondestructive approach through dedicated commands that seamlessly improve the application's features

  • Support of animation and undo and redo

  • Eclipse-based property sheets for choosing layout algorithms and tweaking global and local parameters

  • Persistence of graph layout settings

  • Documentation and samples available within Eclipse

Examples of GEF and GMF applications

A set of generic visualization examples (based on GEF) and a generic diagram editing tool (based on GMF) are available to help developers understand how typical applications can invoke graph layout functions. The source code for each example is also available.
