• For a workload that has a specific heavy load time. Eg., if you have a process that over-burdens a virtual machine twice a year, it might make sense to move that workload to its own standalone physical machine during this timeframe and then re-virtualize after completion.

• To resolve performance issues caused by virtualizing the workload of a standalone server, such as soon after virtualization, if the workload does not behave well in a virtualized environment.
