IBM Intelligent Transportation

IBM Intelligent Transportation offers a comprehensive solution for traffic management by capturing data from disparate sources to achieve citywide visibility into transportation conditions. The solution enables a 360-degree view of the entire transportation infrastructure by integrating existing technologies into a single information model for advanced analysis and sharpened visibility of traffic incidents.

IBM Intelligent Transportation offers intelligence and insight, greater connectivity and transparency, and improved customer service by providing centralized management of traffic operations and event information that is collected across geographic locations. By integrating and aggregating traffic operations and event information from a variety of data source devices, IBM Intelligent Transportation can help provide valuable visible information to increase the efficiency of numerous traffic pain points. By delivering traffic system integration, the IBM solution provides a comprehensive picture of what’s coming down the road at any given time.

IBM Intelligent Transportation provides the following capabilities:

IBM Intelligent Transportation requires an IBM Intelligent Operations Center. IBM Intelligent Operations Center must meet minimum hardware requirements. IBM Intelligent Transportation installs into the IBM Intelligent Operations Center.

To use the Intelligent Operations Center, you must have one of the following browsers installed with JavaScript™ enabled.

• Internet Explorer 8.0.
• Mozilla Firefox 3.0, 3.5, 3.6.

Note that Internet Explorer 9.0 and Mozilla Firefox 4.0 are not supported

• RedHat Enterprise Linux Server 5.5 or RedHat Enterprise Linux Advanced Platform 5.5, 64-bit version only.

Server requirements
Each server must have an x86 64-bit processor including one of the following:

• AMD 64-bit processors
• Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T) processors

Each IBM Intelligent Operations Center recommends the processors, memory, and hard disk space shown below.

• The /tmp folder on the installation management server must have at least 35 GB of available space.
• Define swap space for each server to be twice the amount of the physical memory. For example, if a server has 16 GB memory, define 32 GB of swap space.

Additional hardware might be required if you plan on using Tivoli® Service Request Manager® with the IBM Intelligent Operations Center.

Each client accessing the IBM Intelligent Operations Center must meet the following hardware requirements:

• A monitor with a minimum 1280 x 800 resolution
• 2 GB memory
• Network access with sufficient bandwidth for complex web client generation and continuous data updates.
