IBM® Rational® AppScan® Tester Edition software helps quality assurance (QA) teams find and remediate security vulnerabilities early in the development process. Now QA teams can make security testing part of their quality management program. This web application security testing suite is available as a desktop application.

  • Enables security testing alongside functional and performance testing.
  • Automates security testing in the QA environment including full integration with IBM Rational Quality Manager software.

Integration with existing QA processes

  • Supports standard QA workflow activities including invoking tests, working with results, prioritizing and submitting defects, and performing regression testing.
  • Includes QA Defect Logger to configure and run scans within Rational AppScan software; logs findings in a defect tracking tool.
  • Integrates with leading testing systems, so QA professionals can use its functionality in test scripts and conduct security checks within their familiar testing environments.

Other prerequisites

  • Approximately 10 GB of available hard-disk space for scan logs on the Policy Tester Scanner
  • Approximately 200 GB of available hard-disk space on the system hosting the database (equals approximately 400,000 pages)
  • Approximately 330 MB for the Web Services Explorer –(to test Web Services for compliance issues)
