Decentralized RACF administration optimizes resources. Through a user-friendly Microsoft® Windows® interface, organizations can decentralize RACF administration, enabling tasks to be performed at the department level rather than at the corporate level. Freed from routine tasks such as password resets, experienced RACF administrators can instead focus on higher-value activities that help improve both security and service levels.
"Scope Down" administrative capabilities. To manage security and privacy, central administrators can customize the administrative commands in the interface. For example, a help-desk staff member who has the right to reset passwords but no other rights cannot initiate commands for creating new users. Help-desk staff or security administrators view only the commands they are allowed to perform, which reduces the risk of incorrect commands and insider breaches.
Eliminates TSO/ISPF rollouts. You can enable decentralized administrators over your standard network. Reduce or eliminate the cost and effort of rolling out IBM TSO/ISPF (Time Sharing Option/ Interactive System Productivity Facility) terminals to your staff.
Administer from a live RACF database. Directly accesses the live RACF database. Users can easily navigate through RACF profiles and manage permits, scopes, access lists, and verifying digital signatures for program modules. The interface can display more detailed information, such as when passwords were last changed or reset. With easy access to the active RACF database, help-desk staff can view accurate, up-to-the-minute information about users, groups, and resource profiles.
Administer multiple RACF databases Security zSecure Visual simplifies the management of multiple RACF data bases allowing you to send and execute the same commands to multiple systems. Enables administrators to keep multiple RACF databases synchronized with the same level of security information.
Easy cloning of user templates. Add new users to the system by duplicating standard user templates and entering the new user names. This feature reduces the risk of giving incorrect authorizations to a new user because the department can only use existing templates and assign authorizations to groups their scope.
Include HR data in user displays Allow site customization to match and enrich site specific user-defined displays with data from HR files like employee and department numbers Eases migration from home grown tools.
