Optimized for enterprise-scale data integration
IBM InfoSphere DataStage is a core product module of the InfoSphere Information Server information integration platform. It lets you collect, integrate and transform data from a full range of sources into data warehouses and other applications for trustworthy, timely information. Process massive data volumes in batch or real time, connecting with a virtually unlimited number of heterogeneous data sources in a single job.
InfoSphere DataStage offers the following benefits:
- Scalable platform—manage data volumes with the parallel processing capabilities of multiprocessor hardware platforms.
- Comprehensive source and target support—integrate a virtually unlimited number of heterogeneous data sources and targets in a single job.
- Real-time data integration support—capture messages or extract data in real time on the same platform that integrates bulk data, using the same transformation rules.
- Ease of use—maximize speed, flexibility and effectiveness to build, deploy, update and manage your data integration infrastructure.
Scalable platform
- InfoSphere DataStage splits the largest integration jobs into subsets (partition parallelism) and flows these subsets concurrently across all available processors (pipeline parallelism).
- Linear scalability is offered as performance increases proportionally to the number of processors—hardware is the only limiting factor to performance.
- You can take your application from 2-way processing in the morning, to 32-way in the afternoon, to 128-way processing at night—all with a simple change to the configuration file.
Comprehensive source and target support
- Data integration is offered for complex data structures in XML; ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft); almost any database (including partitioned databases); web services; and business intelligence tools (IBM Cognos, SAS).
- Complete connectivity between virtually any data source and application helps ensure integration of the most relevant, complete and accurate data for use by enterprise application software.
- InfoSphere DataStage provides connection to operational systems, databases and enterprise applications spread across mainframe and distributed systems.
- A common metadata repository integrates with other InfoSphere Information Server modules including data profiling and data quality capabilities.
Real-time data integration support
- InfoSphere DataStage delivers real-time data feeds to optimize extract, transform, load (ETL) processes.
- InfoSphere Information Services Director provides a service-oriented architecture (SOA) for publishing data integration logic as shared services that can be reused across the enterprise.
- These services are capable of simultaneously supporting the high-speed, high-reliability requirements of transactional processing and the high-volume bulk data requirements of batch processing.
- Data integration jobs can be deployed with Java Message Services, web services and other methods. This SOA lets numerous developers share complex data integration processes without requiring them to understand the steps contained in the services.
Ease of use
- Reduces the development and maintenance cycle for data integration projects by simplifying administration and maximizing development resources.
- Provides an easy-to-use, top-down, work-as-you-think design interface.
- Includes a comprehensive library of transformation components for easily defining common integration processes.
- Incorporates a complete tool set to administer, deploy and update the data flows throughout the data integration lifecycle.
