What's new in IBM Records Manager V8.5

IBM Records Manager V8.5 continues to enhance the Enterprise Content Management and Compliance platform to apply formal records management controls across the enterprise. The new enhancements include installation and performance improvements, as well as new functionality to meet the new requirements of US Standard DoD standard 5015.02 version 3. Available in tandem with IBM Records Manager V8.5 is IBM Content Manager Records Enabler (CMRE) V8.5, and is now a part of IBM Content Manager Enterprise Edition V8.4 (5724-B19).

New platform support: DB2 V9.1, DB2 V9.5, WebSphere Application Server V7.0

IBM Records Manager V8.5 adds support for Microsoft Win32 2008, IBM AIX V6.1, IBM Content Manager V8.4.1, and IBM WebSphere Application Server V7.0. IBM Records Manager V8.5 can integrate with IBM Content Manager Records Enabler V8.5 to support IBM Content Manager Enterprise Edition V8.4.1 and V8.3, IBM Content Manager for z/OS V8.4 and V8.3 (Host Security Mode), IBM Document Manager V8.4, IBM CommonStore for Lotus Notes® V8.4, and IBM CommonStore for Microsoft Exchange V8.4. IBM Records Manager supports data archived by IBM Content Collector.

Installation improvements

Improvements in the installation experience include:

• Ability to silently install all or individual components (for example, IBM Records Manager database, IBM Records Manager Engine, Admin Console)
• Ability to install IBM Records Manager database without database administrator privilege
• Ability to install IBM Records Manager or Content Manager Records Enabler on Unix without local root privilege

Performance improvements

• Performance improvements for records declaration, classification, searching, holds, and disposition

Federal Desktop Core Configuration compliance (FDCC)

• IBM Records Manager V8.5 and IBM Content Manager Records Enabler V8.5 each have a Web-based administration client which can be accessed from Internet Explorer on Windows XP or Vista systems that are compliant with FDCC requirements.

Leverage automated records capture with IBM Content Collector

• Part of the IBM Enterprise Content Management and Compliance platform, IBM Content Collector now enables IBM Records Manager and IBM Content Manager to receive captured content that IBM Content Collector finds via active e-mail systems, desktop, laptop, and network drive searches. IBM Content Collector enforces document control policies on those found files, automatically assigning IBM Records Manager and IBM Content Manager Enterprise Edition index properties and automatically declaring and classifying ingested content as records.
