WebSphere Translation Server for Multiplatforms can:

  • Translate from approximately 200 words per second to 500 words per second

  • Provide superior handling of idiomatic expressions and complex parsing using slot grammars

  • Provide quick, inexpensive, convenient "gist" text translations whenever a professional translation is unfeasible because of availability, time, or cost

  • Provide real-time, dynamic translations without the need to re-create separate Web pages in different languages

  • Allow for easy integration into multiple environments and can be attached to e-mail servers and instant messaging service servers using an extensive API

  • Support bidirectional translation of content for English to/from French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese (simplified) and Chinese (traditional) and unidirectional translation of content from English to Korean and Brazilian Portuguese

  • Be used in Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and AIX® environments

  • Work with Web servers and instant messaging services using an extensive API

  • Be tuned so that verbs and specific terms or phrases for a domain or context can be interpreted correctly
