IBM Migration Utility for z/OS® generates IBM COBOL applications from programs written in the CA Easytrieve® languages.

Run and maintain converted programs as either COBOL programs or in the Easytrieve languages—without installing Easytrieve products.

• Easy creation of HTML reports: New or existing Computer Associates Easytrieve® programs can now easily create reports in HTML and automatically deploy them to your Web server, avoiding expensive and error-prone manual processes

• Easy creation of .CSV (character separated values) output: New or existing Easytrieve programs can automatically generate.CSV output files to use with office applications such as spreadsheets, without cumbersome cut-and-paste or export/import processes

• Creation of HTML Drill Down reports: You can create linked HTML "Drill Down" reports and automatically deploy them to a Web server, creating multiple reporting levels (linked to one another) in one step, potentially eliminating the need for multiple separate reports that are not linked for navigation.

• Compatibility with multiple file types: Supported file types include VSAM, QSAM, SAM, DB2® (Native and Easytrieve Mode), IMS™ (DL1), tape files and unit record devices.

• Convert mainframe printer files (reports) to HTML and CSV files: The new Report Modernization Utility provides a comprehensive tool for converting mainframe reports to HTML and CSV formats.

• Easy extensibility to Easytrieve reports with standard COBOL programming

• Improved performance in I/O, searching and sorting

• Ability to port Easytrieve applications to any platform with a supported COBOL compiler (subject to any limitations that the compiler has)

• Analysis of program abends, identifying the original failing Easytrieve program statement

• Ability to capture business logic embedded in programs created in an Easytrieve language, converting it to COBOL for re-use in modern SOA application
